{Car Rental or Public Transport? | Public Transport or Car Hire? | Book a Rental Car or Use Public Transport?} Feb 06

So you are planning a {vacation | holiday} and you have booked your {airfares | flights} and {accommodation | hotel}.  Well before you book your rental car you may wish to consider the following {points | facts} and maybe public transport will provide you with a cheaper and better option.

Many {locations | destinations} around the world have a great public transport system that provides travelers with a more affordable form of transportation.  This is great but in some cases, the best local {attractions | hot spots} are not accessible via public transport.  You may also consider booking a {rental car | car rental | car hire | hire car}, and although it may seem more {expensive | costly} then catching trains and buses, it does provide you with complete freedom to explore and enjoy your holiday destination.

To enable you to make a fair {decision | comparison} between them both, you will need a complete understanding of exactly where you wish to travel once you arrive.  If you decide you will be seeing sights and attractions that are not covered in the public transport routes, you may then need to pay for a taxi which can become very {costly | expensive}, and it would have been cheaper to {rent |book} a {hire car | rental car | car rental | car hire}.

If booking a {rental car | car rental | car hire | hire car} is your best option, make sure to include any other hidden costs that may accompany driving a hire car, for example parking or toll road charges.  If these charges are overlooked, you will not have given yourself a fair comparison between the two.  It is also best you know the procedures to collect and drop off the hire car, as some car rental agents will not provide vehicles direct from the airport terminals.  This can then make it very inconvenient and frustrating.  For complete convenience make sure you book a car hire with a national company as they provide vehicles direct from the airport terminal and other city locations.

Your decision may be purely costs based and you may think that using public transport will save you money.  This is a fair assumption, however, you will be restricted by timetables and routes and this can cause frustration.  It would also then be important that you have an allotted amount set aside to pay for taxis in  case you happen to miss the last service.  In some {locations | destinations}, taxi fares can be very expensive.

For you to really have an enjoyable break away, plan {well in advance | ahead | before you travel} and consider your transportation needs before you arrive.  This will then make way for you to relax and see the sights and attractions without disappointment.

Why do we go on holiday? Jan 31

People across my county found this question quite hard to answer. Some people don’t even think about the answer, and it even takes them a while to say something. Many people will immediately just say something along the lines of, “Because I want to”! So this means nothing, when you have no real reason, and you just have to because it is there, what is the point. What ever the reason is, there definitely is one, people just don’t let us know?

I came across some people who just wanted the time off work, and mumbled incessantly. This is the best answer I got, and can understand what people mean by this. If you really need to get away from your job that bad you are willing to spend your hard earned wages on a ridiculously expensive holiday, then I think you may be in the wrong job!

Now getting some time off work isn’t what i would say is hard for the majority of people, what are the weekend’s for? Meeting new people and living with a completely different culture, this is a holiday that actually has meaning, although not many people gave this answer. Finally an answer that sounded like they actually knew what they were doing, and why they wanted to go. I can understand that some people would be willing to spend money to experience a new way of life.

What really riled me was the answer that some people gave that read like this; “There isn’t much else around for us to do”! These are the people that just need ignoring. What do you mean there is nothing else to do, that makes no sense, of course there is! These people do hurt my brain a bit, and I had to sit down for a while after speaking to them.

But really, do we NEED a reason to go on holiday? Of course you need no good reason to go on holiday, if you want to go, just do it. Don’t let anyone else tell you any different.

For Caribbean holidays, Maldives holidays, Sri Lanka holidays, maybe you should visit a tour operator!
